Reuben Johnson owns and manages Northwoods Compass, LLC. Reuben grew up in Marinette, Wisconsin and earned his BBA degree at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and attended the University of Minnesota (MBA Program). Reuben spent most of his real estate career (20+ years) at SUPERVALU, INC. in the Twin Cities as Vice President of Real Estate before moving to Hayward. Reuben was VP of Acquisitions and Development for Naterra Land for NW Wisconsin for 3 years prior to establishing Northwoods Compass.

    Reuben has first hand vacation rental experience having owned and managed a very successful rental cabin on Long Lake. Reuben has applied his broad real estate backgrounds and direct rental experience into the establishment of Northwoods Compass. Reuben is President of Northwoods Compass, a full-service property management company.

    *We take the time to educate you about the rental process and guide you along the way to make the experience hassle-free to you. Did you know that your cabin must be licensed with the State Dept of Health? We manage the entire upfront licensing requirement. We are on-site for all inspections and have good relationships with the State Dept of Health to obtain compliance.

    *We understand what owners and renters expect from a vacation rental. We know how renters would like to be treated as a guest at your lake home and we expect those guests to treat your home with great care. We bring a professional approach to every element of the vacation process to meet the needs of owners and guests.



    *We offer a variety of marketing strategies including rental signage, direct mail and internet marketing. This website attracts many visitors and it provides great local information to support a vacationer's full experience.

    We are in constant communication with potential renters; if your office is only open during the day, you will miss the renter who is surfing the internet at home late at night. We return phone calls and emails quickly!




    *We provide complete vacation rental administration from recommending rental rates, obtaining signed rental agreements from renters, collecting deposits, collecting sales taxes/remitting to State and communicating to renter during the process.

    We provide a separate bank account that collects all rents and deposits to safe guard all funds. We provide monthly statements to you for your accounting purposes.

    We hire good, reliable people to clean your cabin. Our cleaners follow high cleaning standards.

    We provide Welcome Books to guests that are custom made for your property that highlights your cabin, the lake and area amenities.

    *We provide a starter kit for all prospective owners that provides you with a detailed road map for vacation home rental that we would be happy to share with you.
